I ODed on this when I first bought it. I thought it was incredible. It made me feel extremely ill and I put it away for a bit.
I tried it again recently and listened to what other people had said and sprayed frugally. The slight wave of familiar nausea came back but went away really fast. I'm so relieved. This is an absolute monster and there's no getting away from it! I do love it deeply and I'm not sure yet if it loves me back but I shall continue to try and seduce it.
Kenzo Jungle L'Elephant is a very unique perfume, I've never smelled another like this. It's exotic, sweet and spicy, being heavy on the cloves, cardamom, vanilla, licorice and mango. It's very sweet like the smell of Indian sweets in an Indian spice market, although there is also a bit of a weird suntan lotion smell somewhere in there too. I'm wearing this on a cool, overcast day, and for the most part I like it, but I have the feeling it would smell terrific on a hot day.
i still have to write my speech & my essay. it's 9:55pm
for a long years I was against this one.. but now i'm in love forever! sexy, oriental and woody, no flowers and no candy, no sugar :) perfect fot winter and cold days.
i will wear it every day :)
When I first tried L'Elephant, I immediately had a flashback to being in middle school, going somewhere with friends, and smelling a strong perfume in the air. This was a long time ago, when dinosaurs walked the earth (just kidding!) and Opium and Cinnabar were new fragrances. I think it must have been a movie theater, and someone had an open cup of Dr. Pepper.
Opium, buttered popcorn, and the raisin-prune-and-spice-cola accord of Dr. Pepper: voila, L'Elephant! Now, I absolutely despise Opium - it's the patchouli and the monster sillage that makes me hate it - but I kind of liked L'Elephant. It's not a fragrance I'd wear often, and I'd only ever wear it, APPLIED SPARINGLY!, in super-chilly weather, but it's certainly very interesting.
Some people write very long reviews extoling every note in a perfume. Occasionally I manage that but not for this one. I find it medicinal, herbal and difficult. But I do like the bottle.
I just got kicked in the face by an elephant and I loved it! Spice without the sweet. It's like loose chai tea leaves. The tea without the cream and sugar. I can't stop smelling myself. Cloves are the heavy hitter here. Perfect for this frigid day. Amazing!! You will NOT need more than a spray or two so easy on the trigger finger.
Ive been wanting to try this for a while now. So I recently bought a mini. Im always open to new and unique fragrances. And unique this is. The main notes that stand out on me is the ylang ylang and the cardamom and bit of vanilla. Its also very sweet on me. In the real world I could never walk around smelling like this. To me this will never work. Who knows maybe Ill grow to like it. But I highly doubt it.
If you haven’t been on an Indian market yet, go and pop your head into an Indian restaurant kitchen. That’s how JE smells. It’s obtrusive and pushy. It screams: “cinnamon, cardamom, liquorice!” whilst the elephant is stomping in the rhythm of your heartbeat. It gets calmer but never quiet. If you don’t like Angel, stay far away from this. I loved it for the liquorice which apparently makes the boys obedient. You have to be strong to carry it off. Oh and do us a favour, don’t wear it in the summer.
Wow, I understand why this has jungle in the title,it's like a wild animal. It's such an amazing scent! The woodiness and the heavy spices roar at you in the opening and then seem to have a battle of their own for a while, meanwhile the heliotrope is creeping up on them. Suddenly it pounces and you're left with a powdery, spice dusted heliotrope, that is only slightly sweet in the way heliotrope is. It's like the spices have worn themselves out in running around. Such a brilliant crazy scent. Elephant is an appropriate name, it can stampede powerfully, but then can also be gentle. My only complaint is that the staying power isn't as amazing as the scent itself.
This one is not for me. After the initial spice blast it quickly settles down and all I get from then on is musty mango on a dirty vanilla base. The spices are disappointingly submissive! Yeah, it's a bit different and somewhat interesting, but wearing it doesn't give me any pleasure. L'Elephant feels hollow and leaves me cold.
Above-average longevity, soft-moderate sillage (no beast mode here).
